Welcome to Summer and the December 2011 Sustainable Scenic Rim eNews. We had some welcome rain in late November which as I write, is nourishing local forests and waterways. In early November our region hosted its second annual Strategic Leaders Forum and it was very heartening to see a group of over 60 business, environment, council, indigenous, education and community leaders come together to courageously and collaboratively plan for the protection of our region’s local living landscapes, local living economies and local living communities. In late November Scenic Rim Regional Council formally approved and released the Scenic Rim Community Plan, a living document created by the people and communities of the Scenic Rim in collaboration with Council. This excellent plan foregrounds our region’s landscapes, local economies and nature-based industries including tourism and agriculture, as well as our creative communities. It beautifully captures the love most of us have for our natural, cultural and community heritage here in the region. Thank you to all the sustainability practitioners who contributed to this newsletter. It’s great to hear about the sustainability initiatives underway in and around the Scenic Rim and we hope you enjoy reading this Summer eNews. These newsletters are produced seasonally. If you would like to contribute to our Autumn 2012 edition which will be produced in February/March 2012, please contact Sally MacKinnon at the Ethos Foundation: sally@ethosfoundation.org Here's what we have for you in this edition: Strategic Leaders Forum
