In early 2010, Scenic Rim Escapes - one of the Rim region's tourism industry associations - coordinated the Biggest CARBONLOSER Challenge with 60 of the region's tourism operators.

This Qld Government funded program challenged participants to lose 2,000kg CO2 from their business or household carbon budget through simple actions includingenergy efficient behaviours, reducing waste to landfill, reducing food miles by sourcing local food, reducing waste to landfill, increasing composting and soil improvement through worm farming, and installing energy efficient and renewable energy technology for example.

The Challenge was such a success that a 'Menu for Change' has been created by compiling finalists' stories about the actions that they took to slash their carbon footprint.
Bon appétit!
