The Scenic Rim is home to community gardens at Tamborine Mountain and a number of local schools. As we head towards 2011, both the Beaudesert and Beechmont communities are also starting preliminary planning to create community gardens in their areas.

At Beaudesert, organiser Debbie Frandsen recently inspected prospective sites with Scenic Rim Regional Council Coordinator Michael Anderson. Debbie’s also pondering possible names for the project and is calling for interested people to join the organising team. At Beechmont, community garden organiser Wendi Trulson is looking to the grounds of the Beechmont Community Centre as a possible site for a community garden. Auspicing organisation, the Beechmont Business & Enterprise Network (BBEN) is keen to support Wendi’s efforts and is calling for interested Beechmont residents to join the organising team.
