Scenic Rim Escapes is one of the region’s key tourism industry associations and in 2010 spearheaded the Biggest CARBONLOSER Challenge with 60 local tourism businesses.
At its recent AGM, a new executive – now dubbed the Green Team – was appointed to govern the association for 2010-11.
Incoming President is Lisa Groom from interNATIONALPARKtours at Binna Burra. Lisa is a member of the legendary Groom family who helped establish Lamington National Park, co-founded Binna Burra Lodge and for the last 30 years has run the eco-tour enterprise interNATIONAL PARK tours. Lisa represents the Canungra/Beechmont Precinct.
Incoming Vice President (Sustainability and Membership) is Tracey Larkin from Mt Barney Lodge. Tracey and her husband Innes are the second generation of the Larkin family to operate the Eco-Accredited Lodge. Tracey was the driving force behind the recent industry-based Biggest CARBONLOSER Challenge and is a member of the Scenic Rim ClimateSmart Business Cluster. Tracey represents the Mt Barney Precinct.
Incoming Vice President (Meetings and Guest Speaker Organiser) is Lorna Butler who with husband John, operates Clandulla Cottages at Boyland. Over the past two years Lorna has participated in the Building Sustainable Small Business program, been a finalist in the Biggest CARBONLOSER Challenge and is now a member of the ClimateSmart Business Cluster. Lorna represents the Canungra/Beechmont Precinct.
Incoming Treasurer is Desley Agnoletto who with husband Pietro operates 'Classi di Cucina Italiana' an outstanding Italian cooking school at Rathdowney. Desley and Pietro established the renowned Schonell Pizza Caffe at the University of Qld 15 years ago and now operate their cooking school with a focus on renewable energy and regional produce. They are also active supporters of the Scenic Rim’s creative arts community. Desley represents the Mt Barney Precinct.
