Earth Education Centre Wild Mountains has had a great start to their programs for 2011 with a 100% Renewables weekend workshop in February and numerous primary school visits through March and April.
The Renewables weekend was sponsored by Scenic Rim Regional Council, and presenters and campaigners travelled from across Australia to skill up and undertake the largest survey on renewable energy this country has ever seen. The aim is to send a clear message to our politicians about the community’s desired direction towards clean energy. Check out www.100percent.org.au for full details.
So far in 2011, Wild Mountains has hosted four Earthkeepers Camps and delivered the Earthkeepers program to around 120 students.
The first camp in early March, was a joint camp combining local schools Warrill View and Maroon.
This was followed by a back-to-back camp of two year six classes from St Mary’sat the end of March.
Wild Mountains was thrilled to have 97 students from the local Scenic Rim region attend the centre’s camps with financial support from the Scenic Rim Regional Council.
Woodhill school returned for the second year running and thoroughly enjoyed themselves despite the rain.
