Queensland Sustainable Energy Innovation Fund (QSEIF)
Administered by the Sustainable Community Division of the Department of Environment and Resource Management, assists Queensland based organisations to develop innovative technologies that reduce consumption of fossil fuels, water or greenhouse gas emissions. The program focuses on the development and commercialisation of sustainable technologies, rather than pure research. Since 1999, QSEIF has committed $8.9 million in funding to 77 innovative energy and water saving projects in Queensland.

Renewable Energy Rebate Programs:
The Queensland Government is helping to foster greater use of sustainable energy resources and energy efficient technology and products.The Federal Government, through the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) funds rebate programs that provide financial assistance to help Queenslanders choose renewable energy alternatives.
The Solar Homes and Communities Plan (SHCP)
The Solar Homes and Communities Plan (formerly the Photovoltaic Rebate Program (PVRP)) provides cash rebates for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on homes and community use buildings. This program is administered by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. For more information contact the national information line on 1800 808 571.
Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP)
This program provides support for increasing the use of renewable energy generation in areas that are reliant on diesel based electricity supplies.
For information about suppliers and installers of renewable energies, please consult:
In Queensland, RRPGP is administered by the department. For more information contact the Queensland Government's Energy Advisory Service on 1300 369 388.
Queensland Renewable Energy Resource Maps:
These initial Queensland resource assessments have been undertaken by the Sustainable Industries Branch, and are part of an ongoing project to collate data on renewable energy resources across the State. This objective contributes towards ensuring that the energy sector moves, over time, to a more environmentally sustainable basis, reducing its impact on the environment, and in particular the greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy production and use.
This map collates and presents extensive recordings of Bureau of Meteorology solar insolation data in a form that can be easily understood and utilised by those involved in the sustainable energy industry in Queensland, as well as the wider community;
- Queensland Solar Resources - Annual Average Solar Insolation (285kb)

Qld Solar Bonus Scheme (feed in tariff):
The Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme is a program that pays domestic and other small energy customers for the surplus electricity generated from roof-top solar photovoltaic (PV) systems that is exported to the Queensland electricity grid. The scheme rewards customers whenever they generate more electricity than they are using - not just the balance at the end of the quarter, but whenever generation exceeds consumption during the day. For more information on the Solar Bonus Scheme please contact the Department of Mines and Energy or visit the website http://www.cleanenergy.qld.gov.au/solar_bonus_scheme.cfm

‘Sustainability’ can be a big, fuzzy word. It’s been used, abused, muddled and sometimes made meaningless, so don’t be too worried if you’re not sure what it means right now.
